Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated R&D Formulation Chemist to join our innovation team focused on developing and optimizing high-performance chemical formulation for professional hygiene & MRO products. This role involves formulating new products, improving existing formulations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting production scale-up.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, optimize, and scale up formulations for professional hygiene & MRO products (e.g., degreasers, disinfectants, detergents, sanitizers, rinse aids, descalers, etc.).

  • Evaluate formulations performance & stability under varying environmental and storage conditions.

  • Research and evaluate raw materials based on performance, cost, environmental impact, and regulatory compliance for potential new ingredients.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (QA/QC, production, marketing, regulatory affairs) to ensure smooth transition of formulations from lab to production.

  • Maintain comprehensive formulation documentation, including lab records, product specifications, and change control.

  • Collaborate with regulatory, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure compliance with local and international standards (e.g., EPA, REACH, GHS, FDA where applicable).

  • Troubleshoot product issues and perform root cause analysis for product improvement or customer complaints.

  • Support customer-specific customisation and application trials when required.

  • Stay current on industry trends, new technologies, and regulations relevant to hygiene and MRO products.

Qualification:
  • Degree in Chemistry or related scientific field.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant formulation experience in hygiene and/or MRO product formulations.
  • Solid understanding of surfactants, solvents, builders, chelating agents, preservatives, corrosion inhibitors and active disinfectant ingredients.
  • Familiarity with formulation challenges in different environments (acidic, alkaline, hard water, etc.).
  • Knowledge of regulatory and safety compliance requirements (e.g., SDS preparation, chemical labelling, VOC limits, etc.).
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.
  • Experience in pilot-scale production and plant trials.
  • Preferably with relevant formulation experience in hygiene and/or MRO products.
  • Preferably with experience working with green/biodegradable chemistry or eco-labeling systems (e.g., EU Ecolabel, Green Seal).
